For George Floyd, from Kurdistan. The cry against racism is louder
In the United States, in the south of Mineapolis George Floyd, a black man, during an ilegitimate detention, was murdered by a white policeman who took his breath away by suffocating him until he died. While we receive statistical data every day about a global pandemic that wants to attack our ability to breathe, we actually realize as never before that the racist epidemic is suffocating life and killing every day all over the world.
We want to say to the black community in the United States that they are not alone.
This epidemic of racism historically and strongly compromises us in Kurdistan, where ethnic and indigenous minorities have been fighting for centuries to build a communal world where the union of diversity is the principle of mutual respect, where hierarchies, exploitation and oppression do not prevail. In every part of the world there must be no militancy and life that does not put the fight against racism at the center, not only by supporting the need for justice or denouncing racial oppression, but by attacking directly, starting from our every day gesture, as women and dissidents, at its heart the white supremacist patriarchal capitalist state system.
We feel on the way with our black sisters fighting, ancestrally, in the present and for the future of justice that we want here and now.
While we are in mourning for George Floyd, in Turkey as in the United States we are facing, as Kurds, the imperialist war, censorship and torture and killings through illegitimate detentions, key point in the agenda of a racial and dictatorial oppressive system like that of Erodgan, in front of which we will never give up.
In the latest international campaign that we launched for the release of our Kurdish political prisoners we have strongly expressed that solidarity is what keeps us alive.
As a movement of women in Kurdistan and especially active in South and Central America we are in commitment with our black sisters, afrodescendents, indigenous, shoulder to shoulder in the fight against racial oppression and the prison system and its industrial complex fomented by the Erdogan, Trump and Bolsonaro on duty, knowing that it is in our hands, aimed at defending each other, and not in those of governments, the answer for a free world.
We embrace the women of George Floyd’s family and the black community in the United States with the promise, from Kurdistan and South America, to increase our common struggle against racism.
United we will create a free society. Free from the war of states, from racism, from prisons, from patriarchy, from any exploitation.
For us, black lives not only matter, they show us everywhere, the only concrete path towards the liberation of society in every part of the world. Not only do we think this is the most urgent time to be part of our common struggles, with our #BlackLivesMatter companions we have declared an ongoing world revolution and we will not allow racism to suppress us.
We will win our fight!
In the name of George Floyd, as of George Jackson, and for all the people who fought at the last breath in the liberation struggle.
With revolutionary love,
Kurdish Women Movement in Latin America (28/05/2020)
