CARTA DE APOYO A MARÍA PATRICIA ROMERO HERNÁNDEZ
Por medio de esta carta queremos agradecer la solidaridad de todas las personas que se han indignado y se han manifestado contra los abusos, violaciones y tortura que sufrimos más de doscientas personas el 3 y 4 de mayo de 2006 en San Salvador Atenco y Texcoco y que nos han demostrado su apoyo, a nivel nacional e internacional. Al mismo tiempo, les compartimos cuestiones relacionadas con la denuncia presentada por tortura y malos tratos incluyendo la violencia sexual en contra de policías ministeriales, estatales y federales. Así como, respecto de los procesos penales que al día de hoy seguimos enfrentando varias de nosotras.
La denuncia que presentamos ante la Fiscalía Especial para Delitos Violentos contra las Mujeres (FEVIM) en mayo de 2006 sigue abierta sin que existan mayores avances y mucho menos la consignación de alguno de los probables responsables, elementos de las fuerzas de seguridad estatales y federales quienes nos propinaron los abusos y nos torturaron. Por otro lado los procesos instaurados en nuestra contra por delitos tales como ataque a las vías de comunicación, secuestro equiparado, lesiones, entre otros, han pasado por tres juzgados diferentes, ocasionándonos desgaste físico, económico y moral. Hay procesos que aún enfrentamos algunas de nosotras por ataques a las vías de comunicación cuando en autos consta que nunca estuvimos en la carretera de Lechería sino en Texcoco.
Afortunadamente, casi todas nosotras enfrentamos los cargos en libertad bajo caución, y hay quienes fuimos absueltas, a diferencia de nuestra compañera MARIA PATRICIA ROMERO HERNÁNDEZ, quien se encuentra todavía recluida en el Centro Preventivo y de Readaptación Social de Texcoco, conocido como Molino de Flores. Ella, junto con su padre, hijo y diez compañeros llevan más de dos años en prisión. Al día de hoy se encuentra cerrada la instrucción dentro de su procesos llevado ante el Juez Tercero y Primero de lo Penal de Texcoco y actualmente están vistos para sentencia.
Es por esto que exhortamos a los jueces Primero y Tercero de lo Penal de Texcoco a que no utilice más tiempo del necesario para dictar sentencia dentro de los expedientes 298/2007 y 58/2007 y que la misma sea apegada a derecho. Confiamos en que de ser así, nuestra compañera MARIA PATRICIA y los demás compañeros recuperaran la libertad que le arrebataron hace mas de 26 meses y pueda rehacer su vida como hasta el día de hoy cada una de nosotras lo intenta.
De la misma forma manifestamos nuestra preocupación por la integridad física y psicológica de MARIA PATRICIA, debido a que todavía presenta secuelas de los golpes que le fueron propinados por agentes policíacos en mayo de 2006 y su salud puede deteriorarse si no es tratada adecuadamente. En este sentido, exhortamos al Director del Centro Preventivo y de Readaptación Social de Texcoco a velar y garantizar la seguridad e integridad de MARIA PATRICIA ROMERO HERNÁNDEZ.

LETTER IN SUPPORT OF MARIA PATRICIA ROMERO HERNÁNDEZ
In this letter we wish to thank all the people who have expressed their
outrage over the abuse, rape and torture that more than 200 of us
endured in San Salvador Atenco and Texcoco on May 3 & 4, 2006, and who
have shown support and solidarity for us, nationally and
internationally. We also want to share information about the
denunciation presented against state and federal ministerial police
agents for torture and mistreatment, including sexual violence, and to
give an update on the charges that some of us are still facing.
The denunciation we presented to the Special Prosecutor’s Office for
Violent Crimes against Women (FEVIM) in May of 2006 is still open, with
no significant advances made, much less charges being pressed against
any member of the state or federal security forces with probable
responsibility for abusing and torturing us. On the other hand, the
case brought against us for offenses such as attacks against a
thoroughfare, aggravated kidnapping, and inflicting bodily harm, among
others, has been drawn out in three different courts, causing us
physical, economic and moral exhaustion. Some of us still face charges
for attacks against a thoroughfare when it’s been officially recognized
that we were never on the Lechería Highway, but instead in Texcoco.
Fortunately, most of us who are facing these charges are out on bail and
some of us have been acquitted, unlike our comrade MARIA PATRICIA ROMERO
HERNÁNDEZ, who is still being held in the Social Rehabilitation and
Prevention Center in Texcoco, known as the Molino de Flores prison. She,
along with her father, son, and ten other comrades, have been imprisoned
for more than two years. Today, the discovery phase of their trial
before the First and Third Judge of the Texcoco prison court is
officially closed and they are up for sentencing.
In view of this situation, we exhort the First and Third judges of the
Texcoco court not to take any more time than necessary to pronounce
lawful sentences in cases 298/2007 and 58/2007. We trust that, if this
is done, MARIA PATRICIA and the other comrades will recover the freedom
that was snatched from them over 26 months ago and will be able to
rebuild their lives, as all of us are trying to do to this day.
We also wish to express our concern for the physical and psychological
integrity of MARIA PATRICIA, who is still suffering the consequences of
the blows she received from police agents in May of 2006 and faces
deteriorating health if she does not receive proper treatment. With
regards to this situation we exhort the Warden of the Social
Rehabilitation and Prevention Center of Texcoco to guarantee the safety
and well-being of MARIA PATRICIA ROMERO HERNÁNDEZ.
